Meet the Founder

Audrey Marshall is a Mi’kmaq woman from Membertou, Nova Scotia, with deep relationships across Mi’kma’ki. With over 25 years of experience working alongside First Nation communities, Audrey brings a rare combination of lived experience, professional expertise, and community-rooted leadership.

Her career spans roles as a professor, legal advisor, facilitator, consultant, curriculum designer, and community advocate. Over the years, she has been instrumental in developing, revising, and implementing policies and programs that support wellness, education, culture, governance, and sovereignty. Audrey was named one of Atlantic Canada’s 25 Most Powerful Women in Business, by Atlantic Business Magazine for 2025.

Audrey established Ma’sl Advisory & Consulting in 2019 after serving communities for more than 15 years as an independent consultant. Today, she leads projects with a network of subject matter experts including knowledge keepers, land-based educators, language specialists, health advocates, data analysts, and event organizers.

Lindsay Sylvester

Health Lead

Lindsay is a Registered Nurse and the Youth Health Nurse at Allison Bernard Memorial High School. She brings extensive experience in youth wellness, community health, and culturally responsive care.

Lindsay provides health and counselling support at Ma’sl Advisory & Consulting events, including youth gatherings, Elders’ gatherings, and community workshops. She also delivers health-focused workshops tailored to the needs of youth and Elders, and is a certified Blanket Exercise facilitator. Her work helps ensure gatherings are safe, supportive, and grounded in care for the whole person.

Vanessa Marshall

Project Coordinator

Vanessa serves as the Indigenous Community Liaison Officer with Correctional Services Canada and plays a key role in coordinating and supporting Ma’sl Advisory & Consulting’s projects and events. A certified Blanket Exercise facilitator, Vanessa brings a strong foundation in community engagement, cultural education, and relationship-building.

She manages the day-to-day coordination of projects and events, including conference registration, logistics, budgeting, documentation, and detailed note-taking. Known for her organization, care, and attention to detail, Vanessa ensures projects run smoothly and that community gatherings are well-supported from planning through delivery.

Brittney Paul

Event Planning and Cultural Support

Brittney is a former event planner at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre, where she coordinated large-scale events including weddings, conferences, entertainment events, concerts, and showcases. She brings extensive experience in event logistics, coordination, and production.

At Ma’sl Advisory & Consulting, Brittney leads the planning and delivery of cultural events and manages large-scale gatherings, including the Indigenous Fashion Show and major community events. Her expertise ensures events are well-organized, culturally respectful, and delivered with care from planning through execution.

Holly Johnston

Administrative Assistant

Holly provides administrative support across all Ma’sl Advisory & Consulting projects and initiatives. She plays a key role in organizing focus groups, workshops, and training sessions, and manages the coordination of all training and workshop initiatives.

Holly supports the entire team by handling scheduling, logistics, communications, and day-to-day administration, helping ensure projects run smoothly and that teams, participants, and partners are well supported throughout each engagement.
